Our Story

Our company’s story began small, tying flies for local fly fishing guides and setting up small pop-ups & fly fishing events on the island and in Apalach. On July 1st 2016, we opened the doors of our brick-and-mortar Fly Shop in Historic Downtown Apalachicola, Florida, beginning a new phase in Forgotten Coast Fly Company’s history. For the past 7 years we have had a challenging and rewarding time having our doors open to the public as a small mom & pop shop, through Hurricane Michael and the Pandemic. The endurance it took as a new small business throughout these years was monumental and we are so grateful to each and every supporter of our business whose combined support got us through. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Our hope is to be able to continue to provide you with the greatest tried & tested fly fishing products for Florida's Forgotten Coast, for years to come – just in a new way. 

Forgotten Coast Fly Company 2.0

Labor Day 2023 will be time again for a new phase of FCFC. Beginning Tuesday September 5th 2023, we will be closing the doors of the Fly Shop to walk-in retail and utilizing the space as a Fly Fishing workshop. The retail products that you have grown to love, and hopefully much more to come, will remain available to purchase online and can be shipped to you or picked up at our store at a scheduled time. In person shopping will be by appointment only.

This pivot will allow the company to focus on tying flies, building rods, and teaching (fly casting & fly tying). There are several great new things on the horizon, so please sign up for our newsletter to keep in the loop of what’s to come.
